Restart a Heart Day

'Restart a Heart' is a yearly day of action, with the aim to teach vital life-saving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills to as many people as possible.  Across the UK, there are over 30,000 cardiac arrests outside of hospital every year, but the survival rate is less than 1 in 10.

On the 16th October City Hospitals Sunderland’s resuscitation team, held a Restart a Heart Day which was aimed at non-clinical staff.  A number of CHoICE staff members attended the sessions and were given invaluable training to ensure they have the knowledge and confidence, to know what to do if they find someone unconscious and not breathing.

CHoICE staff who attended this training session are: Carole Snell (Medical Equipment Library), Ryan Unsworth (Medical Equipment Library),  Kay Howarth (Medical Equipment Library),  Janet Hogarth (Clinical engineering),  Mary Claveras (Clinical engineering), Stewart Metcalf (Clinical engineering), Stephen Wardropper (Clinical engineering), Gordon Lown (Clinical engineering), Andrew Ridick (Clinical engineering), Adam Graham (Clinical engineering) and Mathew Jameson (Clinical engineering),
